“Have a good time…all the time.”
Great advice. And certainly advice we’ve tried to follow, which is why, today, I am adding up three weeks of BASTARD TAXI RECEIPTS from the Edinburgh Festival. We’ve just been there, to perform a collaborative piece with the very talented and quite strange Jean Abreu, and his team of superhuman dancers who can do things our alcohol-ridden ashtray bodies can only dream of. You can read some reviews – there’s one here in fact – where people are very nice about us, and don’t use the word post-rock, which was what we were expecting.
Whilst in Edinburgh we went for tea on the beach at seven in the morning and drank fine wines with the creme de la creme of the arts world. All in all, a very pleasant end to the summer.
Our new single’s out today, at least in Digital Formats. The vinyl’s late as usual, but this is the nature of vinyl.
It’s a double a side! A double A side. What does this mean, in real terms? It means we’re releasing Weak4 with about 16 bars cut out, and Come To Me with about a million bars cut out, TO TRY AND GET THEM ON THE RADIO. Switch yours on now, we’re probably on it AT THIS VERY SECOND.
It also gives us the chance to press them onto lovely ltd edition vinyl, with original artwork by Version Industries, so when you place them next to your Crash Tactics Vinyl, and your We Were Exploding Anyway vinyl, they might look REAL PRETTY. And digitally, we’ll be releasing one of the tunes that didn’t make the record ‘Memorydress’, which some of us are very fond of. We’ll probably not get round to remembering how to play it live though. It’s in E Minor. But so are a lot of things.
You can still pre-order/order the vinyl on the HASSLE RECORDS WEBSTORE to make sure that you get it as soon as it’s available. Not long at all…

Dear Summer.
We really didn’t mean to have a food fight in that hotel in Belgium. We were pretty drunk when we left, but the damage looked fairly superficial and food-based. Thanks for letting us get a close look at Orbital’s gear at Guilfest, and the volume of the monitors at 2000trees festival was insane. Shame the band before us had no idea how to get their own gear off stage. It’s also a shame that the Travelodge in Colchester decided it needed it’s lawn strimming at 8am. It’s nice to see Truck Festival going strong. I think it was the first festival we ever played, and it brought back many memories of falling a little bit in love with Regina Spektor in 2005(2006?). An apology is certainly owed to the good people of Steel City Sheffield, who missed out on what was looking like an awesome night at Tramlines festival. It would appear on reflection that the fire alarm was faulty, and it was literally nobody’s fault, but we were absolutely gutted as we had one foot on the stage and were very excited. We have so far been unable to come up with a suitable rescheduling solution to this show that fits round our traditionally hectic schedule. Sonisphere was notable for the amount of people who came to see us at a festival of that ilk, the ruthless cogs of it’s press tent, and the fact that Gary Numan and his music have aged well.
Shame about the weather, perhaps we’ve irretrievably damaged the Earth’s climate system? Fuck David Cameron and Nick Clegg too.
We’ll remember you always.

The European support is just getting confirmed – we’re really excited about it. We are equally excited to announce that KONG are gonna be throwing-up all over our main support slot for the UK dates. They are dangerously weird.
Here are seven irreverent comments regarding the above dates:
1. I just now saw a video of Alison Mosshart (of the Kills and The Deadweather) playing the Hafenklang with her old old band Discount in 1999.
2. Poland! We’re going to Poland again, finally, and I don’t think we’ve ever done our own show there that wasn’t a festival. We have never failed to have a GREAT TIME in Poland. Except when one of us was ill.
3. East Germany in November – what normally happens is a man in tight trousers tries to sell you speed at 2am.
4. La Botanique in Brussels is a great show, and there are goldfish swimming in pools on the load out route.
5. No idea how many times we’ve played the Joiners in the last six years, but that show is going to be HOT.
6. Nice to be going back to Oxford. It’s been a while since we did that. Remember when it was the Zodiac? Can Sean Bean’s 02 give us back our memories? Unlikely.
7. It’s kind of a small tour, isn’t it? We must be getting old. If I said it was our last ever tour, would more of you come? It’s probably not.
Did everyone go through all that indignation over BBC 6Music getting shut down just so Nemone could play Oasis at 3pm on a Monday afternoon?
See you around!

Good god, I was just listening to ‘Memorydress’ … WHAT A SONG ! What is this doing on a b-side? honestly. This should be considered a single on it’s own imo. Actually I think it has even more radio potential then ‘weak4′ or ‘come to me’. To me it’s on par with more ‘known’ 65songs like ‘retreat retreat’, ‘radio protector’, ‘crash tactics’ or ‘tiger girl’. I think it’s a very good song for a wider audience. Talking about b-sides, I was thinking the same thing when i first heard ‘After San Fransisco’ another brilliant song (though a bit short) that should deserve more then just a b-side I think. I hope these won’t be forgotten in live sets, especially ‘Memorydress’. Plz remember how to play it !
I’ll see you again here in Belgium ! Probably Botanique or maybe Leffingeleure as well.
