In a lot of ways that I won’t elaborate on, 65daysofstatic is a lot like the Lambton worm. We’ve been working on some things recently that aren’t the following things, but these are the things that are pressing.
First up, we have a new single coming out on 16th of August. It’s a double a-side. It looks like this:
A: Weak4
AA: Come to Me
or, if you prefer, it can look like this:
A: Come to Me
AA: Weak4
It comes on a limited edition 7inch vinyl record which can be pre-ordered from the Hassle Records store right now. Go here: HASSLE RECORDS STORE
It will also be available on iTunes, all the independent digital-music sellers that we should probably namecheck over Apple and also, of course, the torrents. The digital version will have a B side (but not a BB side) which goes by the name ‘Memorydress’. It was a particularly vexing song for us, rewritten over FORTY THOUSAND times, and in the end it took too different a path to fit on the record. But here it is now, for all you digital-completists out there.
It’s not quite the same, being a digital-completist, is it? Downloading a discography torrent doesn’t hold quite the same romance as scouring record stores up and down the country to find that one obscure piece of vinyl to complete your collection… Perhaps we will copy ‘Memorydress’ onto five cassette tapes and bury those tapes up and down the country next time we tour. How’s that for romance? Geo-cache-punk-rock!

Because we don’t have so many friends, and we are no longer bothered by industry-types who want our guestlist places, we have managed to free some up to give away to some lucky competition winners. There are a few different ones running, and they can be found here:
I Like Music (Guilfest) – toooooo late, this one’s closed. Sorry…
This is Fake DIY (2000 Trees)
The Quietus (Truckfest)
All the tickets come with special stage-access passes that will allow you to come on stage with us and play all of our instruments. We will also make sure that the stage has wifi so you can update your Facebook status to ‘onstage with 65!!!’ on our laptops during the quiet bit of ‘Retreat! Retreat!’. Also, Joe will pick ONE LUCKY WINNER to press the pedal that makes his guitar turn into the sound of dinosaurs exploding that is needed for the end of ‘Tiger Girl’.
NB – that last paragraph is not true. (But that pedal does exist). You can find the latest list of all our shows (not just festivals) over on the 65wesite: LINK.

It’s not long until our stint at the Edinburgh Fringe begins, live-soundtracking Jean Abreu’s ‘INSIDE’.
To those expecting a traditional 65 show – you won’t get one. This is a whole new experience for us. It’s all about the dancing. We will be but shadows in the gloom, making (really loud) noise. It’s an exciting prospect for us. It runs from August 6th – 12th. Check out all of the latest news and find information about how to get tickets here: jeanabreudance.com
More and more and over and over and I am really regretting not buying the 12 inch copy of New Order’s Technique I saw in a record store the other day even though it was a reissue from last year and I already own the cd.
Hope the summer is treating you well.
Bye for now.
65.
