Last weekend was one of our final shows of the year.

We went down to London to play at the Small Town America all-dayer, tried out a few new tunes.

They seemed to go down okay.
Someone put a bit of an old song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb30gTTH-3w.

The whole world is of document these days, no?

We’re back in Sheffield again now, writing.

Lots. Of. Writing.

We had vague ideas that this diary would be a really good place to post notes from the writing process, but right now we’re not convinced that the current scattering of everything, all at once, with the four of us stamping out any hints of us writing an ‘accomplished’ and ‘mature’ (meaning BLUNT! and UNNECESSARY!) third album would be interesting to anyone outside of the four of us.

These things are fierce and these things are secret.

We can tell you this though: This year will soon run out and we’ll be in the studio recording the album properly before it’s over. Pretty soon everything will start moving faster. Change is coming. (Apologies. We won’t be long).

We could also mention: double basses, hypothetical violins, invented audio-catching/skipping automation, interference, guitars, sub-to-fuck-sine waves, glockenspiels, broken-beats BROKEN EVEN MORE, blackboards, key changes and non-linear number systems.

Here’s a few of photos from Japan in August taken by Laura Louise Kennedy:

We are going back to Japan to play a few more shows (most likely our last ones of 2006) in November. More details on the ‘news’ and ‘gigs’ pages.

Monotreme Records is now our US home aswell as our UK one. ‘One Time For All Time’ is getting a fully-fledged release over there October 17th. Unless it drowns in an ocean of indifference, maybe this means we’ll be able to play some shows there before the idea of flying band, crew and equipment halfway across the world becomes reclassified as something not important enough to waste dwindling energy supplies on. (What’s the odds that they keep fighting wars till the bitter end though..?)

There’s someone who looks like our friend being interviewed on Channel 4 News right now.

I wish I didn’t know that Channel 4 news is provided by the ITN network who also produce PR films for massive oil companies and reporters will often flick between these two disciplines like it ain’t no thang…

Maybe I don’t know that. I have no sources, after all. It might have been something I mis-overheard once and completely misunderstood. Still, the fact that it’s not that suprising sort of says it all really, doesn’t it?

This is not the place for this. Apologies.

Just trying to be useful. (If you’re interested, you could try www.medialens.org for more)…
Take care, 65 kids.

65.x.

Oh – We don’t have a new album called ‘You Showed Me’ coming out in October. We have NO IDEA where this has come from.

That showed us.

(That’s stupid and funny).
