I went to the post office on hope street in glasgow and had a conversation with the old guy in front of me about the flu, which he’d managed to avoid.

Then I went into the art school union and had a beer and thought a lot about what it would be like to be an art student having a midday beer, rather than someone in a band sat at one of the tables at the back, being an imposter.

it was snowing when I woke up in aberdeen, snowing a lot. I’m pretty sure I saw a stormy petrel, which is a bird that people who live on the coast used to use to tell when bad weather was coming, before there were weather satellites and stuff. they could tell because the bird often flew, or was blown inland ahead of bad weather. anyway, I was really excited as I’ve always wanted to see one.

It snowed all day, lots of really good snow, not like the grey kind that’d rather be a slush puppy that you get in Sheff.

driving out of aberdeen at 1am was pretty incredible. just more snow that I’ve ever seen, a foot of it on the motorway, and more at the sides. in the blizzard we hit a bit later, the bus lights only penetrated about a foot ahead. so it was worrying that the mirimar disaster were a couple of hours in front of us, in a little transit van, following the slipstream of a snowplough and trying to work out which roads weren’t closed.

I actually saw a man, at one point, walking along the side of the motorway, 50 miles from any towns, trudging through the drifts.

anyway, we made it out in time. I think most of the roads are shut up there today.

cockpit tonight. that means a lot of bass.
